ok… if the image cup center is in canada why don’t they make it again in canada. Why am i saying this .. because by makeing the image cup in canada it will be esyer to make the organization of the cup …

I was on the Canadian short film team last year in Brazil. Although there’s no national competition for short film (they just pick a handful of international finalists), Sasha was still involved in the logistics of things after we got selected (preparation for the finals, staying an extra week after the competition, etc). I just wanted to echo the last couple of people in saying that Sasha was incredibly helpful and always responded very promptly to emails.

I think it's very safe to say there will be an Imagine Cup competition next year.

You are correct, there are no prizes for first, second or third in Canada this year. What I have been able to find out is that this year, unlike the previous two, the Imagine Cup was treated simply as the first round of the worldwide competition. Thus, the winner moves on to the final round in Japan.

Sasha was really helpful, you're right! Communication was excellent.

Thanks Mack. Yes I am talking about the Canadian contest. I doubt this time they are gonna give out prizes in Canada like last year. So far only the finalist has been announced. They didn't mention 2nd or 3rd places, I wonder if they get anything.

I am assuming Microsoft Canada is cutting budget for Imagine Cup due to poor peformance of Canada last year. (I think you guys took the 3rd in the international, right? That was impressive.) But I don't know, it might just be Daniel was less a responsible person than Sasha last year, who even replied my angry email. (Thank god.)

But either way, it was still a great experience. Just hope next year's participants are as euthusiastic as they were.

Nope, there will definitely been an Imagine Cup next year! What it will look like and how it will be run is probably still in the planning stages, so if you have suggestions, feel free to leave a comment.

The other thing to remember is that my post deals with Imagine Cup in Canada, and not in other countries.

The question is why wasn’t the contest run appropriately comparing to previous years. It seems to me that Microsoft is doing this intentionally. I don’t think it would take very long for Daniel to reply the emails and messages. Just seems to me that he ignores the messages intentionally. Maybe there won’t be an Imagine Cup next year?

Great post Mack! It is bad enough that students have to balance school, extracurricular and the Imagine Cup Competition during finals without having to deal with administration problems. I sure hope something gets done.
