Hi Trudy,

Thanks for the comment :)

I wrote a little about Surface here: http://blog.mastermaq.ca/2007/05/29/microsoft-surface-surface-computing-has-arrived/

Basically it's a computer in the form of a table with some new and interesting inputs (multi-touch and object recognition instead of mouse and keyboard). It's kind of like a giant iPhone, except that it's not really a touch screen - inside are cameras that are used to identify movements and objects. It runs a modified version of Windows Vista.

Maybe the best way to explain it is in a scenario:

You can place a digital camera on Surface, and your photos will "fall" out of the camera onto the table (digital screen). You can then use your hands to move them around, resize them, move them into a trash can, etc. You can then place your phone on the surface, and drag a photo toward it, which copies it to the phone.

That's just one example.

Hope that helps a bit!

Hi Mack,
would be great if you could explain the MS Surface a bit more for the non-nerds. Looks just like a coffee table too me ;-)
(Take it as a compliment that I'd rather get educated by you than go to the hyper-confusing MS website!)
