The Game Developers Conference is going on right now, so Microsoft and Sony have been dropping tidbits of information on their upcoming consoles. Both consoles are set to include processors that are composed of multiple cores, a feature that Intel and AMD are working on for the next generation of computers as well. The technique offers crazy performance gains:
“It will deliver over a teraflop (one trillion calculations per second) of targeted computing performance,” [Vice President J. Allard] said. That performance would put it just a bit short of a modern supercomputer.
Apparently Microsoft also gave away 1000 flat-screen TV’s at the conference today. Can’t wait until E3!
