Just a few notes from our first full day here in Ontario:
- The season premiere of Smallville was tonight, and it was damn good. We made sure to be back to the hotel in time to watch.
- It was hot today, but it sure cooled down this evening (not that I am complaining).
- Was nice to see some familiar faces tonight at the exhibitor/speaker/press event at the convention center.
- Turns out the “Starbucks” in the lobby of the hotel isn’t a full-blown Starbucks, but rather, proudly brews Starbucks coffee. Still, not bad.
- I absolutely hate paying $10 per day for ultra slow Internet. It aggravates me to no end. At least we were prepared enough to bring our own wireless router.
Tomorrow is the first day of the Expo – should be good!
I was disappointed by Smallville.
SPOILERISH WARNING!!!!
The whole fortress scene and the dramatic (do it or it will all is lost) assignment given to someone there was a seemingly pointless plot thread given that it carried over a few scenes and the assignment wasn’t even necessary. The ‘guide’ character in the ‘place’ was a forced plot device to set up a far too quick escape, the predictable ‘co-escapees’ (6 I believe) and obvious use (yet prolonged wait for) a device ‘S-engraved’ item.
At lease Lana doesn’t flirt with Clark anymore – that was getting far too much like Joey Potter (Dawson’s Creek).
Perhaps I’m expecting too much of a mental challenge from an 8pm all-the-teenagers-you-can-get-despite-some-very-14A-scenes-last-season show.
I love that one the things on your list to pack is a wireless router.
Would you expect anything different from a comp sci major and a comp engineering major?
Colin – I don’t think it was too bad, but maybe that’s my withdrawl talking. I usually watch an episode twice before passing final judgement, so let me watch it again heh. The whole Lana character continues to suck though.
Shermie – what KoGs said 😉 My whole mantra is "wireless everywhere" so it only makes sense that I bring it with me!
Smallville – I really wanted to see Martha in action… 🙂 I think it’s probably totally wasted on most of the audience that Martha is played by ‘Lana’ from movie 3 and that dur-el is played by ‘Zod’ from movie 2.
Speaking of wireless everywhere – Fall 2006 is supposed to be the start of the the UMTS/HSPDA roll out for Rogers Wireless in Canada – about time for some decent 3G wireless – GPRS/EDGE just isn’t fun. I just hope they don’t continue to price gouging on the data transfer pricing, and that they offer an unlimited package.
