This is rediculous [sic]. It drives me nuts how a loss is anyone’s fault but the players. Fraser, love him or hate him, has done a great job in this league for 30+ years. Somehow it’s his fault TB scored on a powerplay in the opening minutes? And Watson (a good Regina kid) makes the proper boarding major call and he get pulled from game 6? Why doesn’t someone blame Neiminen for his actions? No one blamed Walkom or LaRue for calling Bertuzzi’s hit? Neiminen takes stupid penalties all the time (his 3 minors vs VAN, game 1). The referees are assigned the finals based on PERFOMANCE. They are consumate professionals, and get the calls right 99% of the time, even when they are against Calgary.
It’s shaping up to be a memorable, if controversial, series! Why do I get the feeling that if Calgary loses on Saturday, Sutter will come out and complain about the referees being changed?

Things like this need to be addressed by more than just the Sports Guru. This is about more than sports or a game. This cuts to the heart of fair play and what the NHL did reeks to high heaven. What happened to the fact that these 4 refs are in the final for a reason, they were the best. And what about the NHL sticking up for their employees. gj NHL Brass.
Yes this is definitely a crappy decision. I guess the league figures that with no hockey next year they can do whatever they want. Sad.
it’s retarded, even if Calgary wins, it’ll be such an empty victory as everyone will always have this controversy to look back on and think "that’s probably why they won"
maybe, just maybe, there’s truth to the rumours. mind you, i didn’t watch game 4, but i do know that over the course of the playoffs, certain calgary players were being unfairly penalized for nothing. I’m thinking specifically of Chris Simon here. I don’t know what game, but he was called for a hlding penalty when all he did was block the guy, whereas at the other end of the ice, a Tampa player literally hauled a guy down and then prevented him from getting up or getting to the puck with no call. I know that the refs who were originally assigned to the game should be the ones who ref it because that’s the way it works, but who the hell knows what’s REALLY going on.
