US Cabinet Resignations

NYTimes: Attorney General John Ashcroft and Commerce Secretary Donald L. Evans are resigning in the first of a string of departures expected before President Bush is inaugurated for a second term. The resignations were announced by the White House press secretary, Scott McClellan, who said President Bush had accepted the decisions of both secretaries, The Associated Press said this afternoon.

“The objective of securing the safety of Americans from crime and terror has been achieved,” John Ashcroft wrote in a five-page, handwritten letter to Bush.

Either Bush will continue to invade other countries without any major terrorist attacks and Ashcroft will be considered a genius, or another act of terrorism will occur in the next four years and Ashcroft will look like a complete idiot. I would bet on the latter. I also wonder who else plans to resign – surely not Donald or Dick!

  1. Hmmmm!!! I wonder why so many of President Bush’s Cabinet members are resigning?

Could it be that Powell thinks Dubya is a little weasel and makes horrific decisions and catastrophic mistakes day after day? Could it be that Ashcroft sees W. as an even bigger idiot than himself? Could it be that Agriculture Secretary Ann Veneman realizes that George W. doesn’t care about the farmer one iota or our precious Mother Earth whatsoever? Could it be that Education Secretary Rod Paige knows that Bush’s “No Child Left Behind” program is a crock of diddily squat and that he could care less about our education system or our teachers? Could it be that Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham watches Dubya waste the time away while we could be doing some real good with hydrogen, electric, solar and hybrid means of energy to better the future of our country and not be dependant on oil anymore? Could it be that Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge can see that Bushface isn’t doing “JACK” to make this a safer place? Could it be that Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy Thompson realizes that Bush doesn’t care about the poverty stricken children of this country or any other country for that matter as well as the simple human rights or general well being of “ALL” American citizens? The answer is “YES” to all these questions. These people who have worked for the President these last four years realize that they don’t want to be connected to such a total ignorant bad man anymore. That’s why their leaving in hordes……….
