Bedtime Stories

I am off to sleep, but I figured I would leave you with this wonderful site I stumbled across tonight. It’s called Book-A-Minute Bedtime, and is a collection of classic stories compressed into one-minute bedtime stories, like the infamous Corduroy by Don Freeman:

Corduroy: No one will buy me because I’m missing a button.

(A girl BUYS Corduroy and makes him a BUTTON, and there are WARM FUZZIES.)

THE END

Enjoy, and goodnight!

  1. OK, I am going to try and be NICE here.but what the hell are we doing if we can’t take the time to read a favorite story book to our children? I know this site may be amusing for some, even entertaining but really we are talking about our children here!!! If we don’t even have five minutes to sit down with our children, to say goodnight properly and read to them a simple story book then why do we even have children? Come on people, like it or not your favorite sitcom CAN wait! It’s truly your decision, you make the choice – and while you are deciding, may I ask you this, “Do you really want to be that KIND of parent who can only ALLOW one minute out of your busy schedule to read a bedtime story to your child?” I think reading to your child is one of the most important things you can do, at any time but especially at bedtime.a time when you are able to share a unique moment of quiet, and show your child how much you truly care. To read and share a simple story book with your child you are building upon a loving connection between parent and child, making a secure bond that will result in your child having the self-confidence to face the world every day. You are opening a world of wonder, new learning and unique adventures to your child by reading a story book to them and to condense this all important opportunity into a one minute RUSH JOB is truly a sin! I know time is of the essence in today’s busy society but really.this site Book-A-Minute Bedtime is just WRONG! Sorry Mack, I just had to make a comment, I am not impressed, not at ALL. Please don’t commend a site that says, “They’ll get the idea, and you won’t miss your favorite sitcom reruns!” Yes, children do love it when their parents read to them at bedtime but they love it because the parent TAKES the time to enjoy the story with their child and MAKES the time to connect lovingly with their child, showing them they truly matter, and they are important! Not just a one minute part of their busy day!

  2. Yeah, you’re right. When you really think about it, the idea for the site isn’t a good one. I posted about it however as I found it amusing. When I think about it though, the only reason I found it amusing was because I had read the stories before. The stories I didn’t know I didn’t find amusing when reading the compressed versions.

Anyway, thanks for the comment, and also for enabling me to find the site amusing by sharing the stories with my when I was younger!
