eXeem Public Beta

The public beta of eXeem was just released (on the 21st). For those of you who aren’t aware, eXeem is supposed to be the next generation file sharing network from the guys who ran the now defunct SuperNova.org. It builds on top of the BitTorrent network.

I downloaded and installed the beta, and I must say, I am largely unimpressed. The website is terribly slow, the application is terribly slow, and none of my searches returned any results. I understand there are hardly any users on it right now (relatively), so I’ll try searching again another time. The New files tab is kind of neat – shows you the 200 newest files.

Hopefully they continue to work on it, it has potential, but it has a long way to go!

  1. I agree, a bunch of my friends told me to get it, but when i read threw it it didn’t look like it was worth it, plus it says its not done, really there is no need. But it does look cool.

  2. i’ve been using it for a few weeks now. beta .23 release (started on .21). i’m throwing in the towel because it just makes me too angry. it’s excruciatingly slow most of the time, you can rarely get the comments on the files, the config options are largely meaningless (you have no idea the effect something will have on something else, it’s rarely the desired one), but the best part is the files that just drop off your transfer list. at the moment i’m downloading .. oh no it’s gone…. start over ? nah, might stick some pins in my eyes instead.
