Darren quits Coke cold turkey

Darren Barefoot posted yesterday that he isn’t going to drink any soft drinks for the month of February. According to his post, Darren is “serious[ly] smitten with Coke.” Sound like anyone you know? I don’t think I could do what Darren is doing. I am far too addicted.

It’s time to grow up and accept that drinking a can of Coke a day isn’t particularly healthy.

A single can of Coke a day? Man I’m screwed, let alone addicted! And hey Darren, I hope you finished that last half can, I don’t like Coke abuse!

  1. They should make a caffiene patch to help addicts like you guys. Also, students studying for exams would love to stick on a caffiene patch. I know I would.

  2. I drank so much coke at university that either, I became immune to caffeine such that it didn’t keep me awake any more, or that I was then able to stay up all night at will without it… or maybe that was the addictive conversations on irc… and the only time I was around for canteen breakfast in the morning…

I do remember having a dull headache the next day if I didn’t get my coke drink. It didn’t help that the student bar subsidized a pint of coke to around 50c.

Now I drink maybe a glass a week while out, and drink lots of water. Actually I think I used to drink so much of stuff like that, that I’m just really bored with soft drinks – my interest has long since peaked – they’ve run out of variation now, just like they have with chocolate bars too. I’m sure they’ll start putting peanut butter in soft drinks soon… it’s in everything else!

  3. Don’t cut my bro off of coke, he wouldn’t go willingly either, but that would be like taking x-box away from Inge…hey, an idea..just kidding Inge

  4. mack, if you quit drinking coke, i don’t want to be around when you do. but honestly? i think darren’s weak. one can of coke a day, combined with the equivalent of 2 cans of water will keep him healthy, as the 2 cans of water will rehydrate after the one can of coke. it’s all good. 🙂
