Halftime and more commercials!

The game is tied at 7 with the second half about to start. You don’t really care about the football though do you? You want commercials, music and breasts (okay maybe not Paul McCartney’s). What a different halftime show! Not that it was bad, but I don’t think you’ll hear about this one in the “2005 year in review” shows and lists, and maybe that’s a good thing. Good music, no lack of lights, it was a good show. I love that he played Hey Jude, such a good song.

Ad-Awards has some new commercials up; my new favorite is the Bud Light airplane one. The FedEx one isn’t bad either, only because it’s so true. Check them out! I thought there was a CRTC ban on the commercials in Canada, but I have seen a couple of the Super Bowl ads on Global so far. Maybe certain commercials can be shown in both countries? Who knows.

Watch for a special Blogosphere News episode after midnight!

  1. Sorry to say, but I hate the fact that I’m supposed to get NBC/ABC/CBS/FOX (as listed) on Bell ExpressVu. But what I get is a very unprofessional and low-tech chop in and out of a Canada station taking the US feeds an inserting their own commercials.

That of course meant that I didn’t get to see the much anticipated commercials, but rather for Canadian shows that I don’t want.

While I’m ranting, I also hate the expressions "Global’s got it" (even overlayed onto the opening credits of shows, especially the school bus on Boston Public last year) and "CTV – Canadian Television" – which almost sounds like a plagiaristic claim, since a lot of the shows are from US networks.

  2. I’m not a sports fan but I wanted to check out a few ads myself. I tuned ABC since it being an american channel but the ads are hijacked by Global. I just wrote them an e-mail expressing my thoughts…

    I’m kinda very pi**ed off.
