Here are my weekly notes:
- Sharon and I went to see Julie & Julia last night. Her pick obviously, but I enjoyed it. Meryl Streep was amazing as usual.
- Lately I’ve been doing a lot with statistics, as I’m sure my regular readers have noticed. I rather enjoy sorting through collections of data to find trends, patterns, and other interesting tidbits. As if on cue, the New York Times ran a story this week on the Internet-age statistician.
- An interesting look at the top 5% most active users on Twitter. No big surprises. Related visualization: If Twitter was 100 people…
- Tiny Perfect Blog is no more. Dave has the details.
- I probably find this interesting because I was there last weekend: attendance at the Royal Tyrrell Museum is at a 15-year high so far this summer.
- For typeface geeks: the history of the Times New Roman typeface.
- I think this is impressive – the world’s first LEED Platinum certified data center has opened in Germany. As the article says, “that’s no small task considering the energy required to keep stacks of servers running smoothly in a climate-controlled environment.”
