Here are some Edmonton-related things I found interesting this week:
- DemoCamp Edmonton #6 is coming up on Wednesday the 11th. Same time (6:30pm) and same place (ETLC, U of A). It’s gonna be awesome – hope to see you there!
- Cal Nichols announced yesterday that he is taking a leave of absence from his job as chairman of the Edmonton Oilers to concentrate on the fight to save the City Center Airport. Sort of related: Reg Milley, CEO of Edmonton Airports, is the next “Ask” forum guest on Connect2Edmonton.
- One of the biggest stories of the week was the proposed $100 million bicycle strategy, and its companion $186 million sidewalk strategy. The concern, obviously, is cost.
- Here’s a great list of March events in Edmonton, compiled by Sharon.
- Another item found via Sharon – Avenue Edmonton’s 25 Best Things to Eat in Edmonton.
- For an entertaining look at some of the past week’s local headlines, check out the Alberta: Get Rich or Die Try Edmonton Roundup.
- The list of new Next Gen Edmonton members is available here. Bios should be posted here eventually.
- I thought this was interesting – the latest Oilers acquisitions (O’Sullivan and Kotalik) can be traced back to the Chris Pronger trade. Who knew?
- Unfortunately, Edmonton placed 5th on the 2009 Maclean’s National Crime Rankings.
- Some new local Twitter accounts to check out: @Connect2Edm, @917thebounce, @edmfilmfest, @EdmontonOpera. Another one is @CityofEdmonton – they’ve been doing a great job lately.
My friend Kate said you could also look at it as Cole, Stoll and Greene for Visnovsky and O’Sullivan. Which doesn’t sound as good…
Thanks for the link! We also enjoy your Edmonton notes.
