Telus Mobility surprises me with a free gift!

I received an interesting package in the mail today from Telus Mobility. A little white box with the phrase “Happy Anniversary” on the front was waiting for me! I opened it up to find a letter thanking me for being a customer since 2003. Actually, I’ve been a customer since 2000 but my first three-year contract was under my business partner’s name. I’ve written about Telus quite a few times on my blog, sometimes because of something bad, sometimes because of something good. This is obviously one of the good things!

Wondering what was in the box? In addition to the letter, they sent me a three-in-one phone charger! It’s a pretty neat little gadget, plugs into the wall or a car outlet, and has a couple of cables with different connectors on it. And a little bag to store the cables in.

Thanks Telus! My current contract is up around November, and while it’s unlikely I’d have gone through the hassle of switching anyway, this makes it even easier to decide. Combined with some customer service improvements recently, Telus Mobility is starting to do more things right than wrong. Now if only they could get the cool new phones sooner ūüôā

  1. Glad to see other people getting these. I got mine yesterday, and I cut my hand getting it out of the bulging mailbox!

    The iPod cable doesn’t work for syncing though ;(

  2. DON’T USE YOUR charger…

    I got my free gift last week, used it twice to charge my phone and it completely killed my battery. My battery looses its charge in about 5 hours now (or two phone calls) when it used to last a minimum of two days even with heavy usage.

    I’m trying to complain to telus, but of course I can’t get through.

  3. Yeah so I wouldn’t get too excited about it. We got one too and it will tell you your phone is charged in 5 min and you can’t use your phone while it is plugged in as it tells you your phone is fully charged.

    I called to complain to telus and the person at their Loyalty Department even questioned my ever receiving it as it doesn’t show on my account that I got anything from them. After insulting me they then offered me some $9 off a month plan when I renew my contract, and proceeded to tell me that phone chargers are cheap enough so with the money we will save with the $9 off we can buy a new charger.

  4. Well I thought I would give you a little update. Since my last post I got back on the phone to the Telus Loyalty Dept, at 1-800-463-3919, armed with the letter from your blog. This time I actually spoke with someone who was their to help. I explained the situation and how I was treated and that after using the charger that my phone no longer held a charge properly. The result was that he confirmed I received the charger and proceeded to offer me any phone Telus has for free on a new 3 year contract. So I now have a new LG Shine for free. So if you have one of these dud chargers and kick up enough of a stink they will drop their pants and give you something more than just a break on a new plan…may be Telus isn’t so bad after all

  5. So far so good. I like the fact that the case is metal, and it has one of the funkiest stock ring tones I have ever heard. Still getting used to it, but considering my last phone was one of those freebie ones it is not hard to be better than what I had. My phone is actually on my wife’s account, and she has to renew her contract soon. So there is a slim chance that when they “transfered” the free phone from her number to mine that they just reloaded it and left the free one on her awell.

  10. I got one also for my 10 year anniversary with them. Unfortunately it was for an old phone of mine so it was useless. I did phone to ask them about it but they wouldn’t send out one for my current phone which I have had for 2 years. Just another piece of trash for the landfill. Good on you Telus!! NOT!!

    well if you can get it to allow you to chose a gift….good for you. IO can’t. makes me feel like this is another piece of crap. hope you have better luck than me..

  13. I also have tried to login to request the chocolates and I absolutely hate web addresses that don’t work. It is a waste of my time and when you are wanting to thank customers it simply shouldn’t be that difficult!!!

  14. I have also tried to get to the address supplied in the letter ie. telusmobility.com/thanks to claim my gift. Can’t get anything but blogs and advertising for more stuff.What is going on? This has worked in previous years, why not now?

  15. Received a letter Dec.12/2009 indicating a gift to be claimed on line and like everyone else there is nothing on the site that allows you to claim it. I have several accounts with Telus. Not impressed!!!!!

  19. I called telus in person yesterday to complain. Of course the operator I had had never heard of the loyalty “PERK” gift. I explained that I wanted her to take it to her supervisor, and forward my gift to my address. I won’t hold me breath waiting.

  20. I thought it was too good to be true. telus continues to be arrogant and does not appreciate their customers. Why would they lie about having a website they don’t have to claim the gift. I’ll just transfer to another company in the new year Maybe Bell will be more appreciative.

I too have had the same great success in trying to claim my free gift.No such website.For those of you who have been trying to complain by phoning telus customer service and usually ending up with a service rep that can not speak English you should be aware that although you may think you are calling Vancouver,the call center is actually in Thailand.Very handy hehehe.Of cource they will try to deny this but I got this information from a person who works for telus in their management level.

    have never received a gift from Telus. Guess they just pick and choose–sort of a lottey thing.

  24. My daughter received a Thank You, pick one of 3 gifts –for her loyalty with her cell phone. not me–why not? I’ve had a Telus Cell Phone for years! It must be a lottery and my name wasn’t picked from the barrol…!

  27. I got a card today to order a free gift from telus at telusmobility.com/thanks but that web site does not work, and there is no where on there site that I can order this gift that they say I am entitled to getting….so bye bye Telus, changing to another supplier

  28. I am glad, I am not alone.  I just want a pair of Movie tickets. Where is the simple on-screen steps? I just read some of the comments. Telus thinks we are fools. It looks like Telus is doing this foolish advertisement for years. Stamps is almost a dollar, maybe Telus can give me a discount on HST tax in my bill.   29. received a so called PERK in mail thanking me for loyalty,however in trying to redeem this 20$ for a charity of my choice and following exactly their instructions i can not find any where to redeem ???  what a joke and disapointment as i wanted to give this 20.00 to the huane society. GET ON THE BALL TELUS AND QUIT MISLEADING YOUR LOYAL CLIENTS OR I WILL CANCEL MY SERVICE!!!!

I actually received the same letter from Telus offering me a choice of a box of chocolates or movie tickets or donation i got tried of trying to find the e-mail address that worked SI I CALLED TELUS 1-866-558-2273 explained what was happening They did it over the phone and my 2 Free Tickets are being mailed to me!!! if something doesn’t work on line CONTACT the company DIRECT!!!

  36. i received the same card thankiing me for my loyalty and to pick a gift…i called telus today and the person there gave me a diff site to go on and that didnt work either..so she said she was sending them a note saying there was no place to enter your perk code! they better get it working as it expires jan.22…..and i want my 2 free movie tickets perks code#4Z7X-6J9L-8Q7L….i will be waiting!!!

  37. I am like the rest of you and could not get into the site, so thank you for posting the link below to click on and fill in my info for the gift!! I did the steps and it says I will recieve my movie tickets in 4-6 weeks, and you can rest assured I am marking it on my calendar and will start calling Telus every day, and hound them until they fulfil their promise, or I will go to the News and report them for what they are doing to people. They want to thank us and end up ticking us off out of the blue. I better get my tickets or they will be sorry. But I am carrying on… thank you for posting the link…I hope everyone below clicks on that link and fills in their info, let them pay what they promise!!!!

  39. So true. I finally submitted my code only to be told that there was a problem with my access code and that it had expired!!! always the same with telus. I will go in to one of the branches!
