Here are my weekly Edmonton notes:
- According to Epcor, power consumption during Earth Hour dropped 5.2%, much more than the 1.5% last year.
- Sharon posted another great roundup of Edmonton events for April.
- The “Spring 2009” radio ratings book has been released, and measures audiences from January 5th to March 1st. As usual, 630 CHED tops the list.
- ETS is looking for input on future LRT routes to Millwoods. You can fill out the Southeast LRT Survey online until April 15th.
- Another survey: the Edmonton Taskforce on Community Safety wants to know what you think about improving community safety through crime prevention.
- The police have laid arson and break and enter charges against 54-year-old Michael O’Reilly in connection with the fire on Rice Howard Way.
- The City has signed a new ten year contract with American Traffic Solutions (ATS) to provide red-light and mobile speed cameras. The ATS program in Calgary is currently Canada’s largest, but when Edmonton’s expansion is completed, it’ll be the largest municipal photo safety enforcement program in the country.
- The 22nd Annual Mayor’s Celebration of the Arts takes place on Monday evening. Sharon and I went last year, and are attending again this year.
- EdmontonTweetup4 is happening on Tuesday evening! And on the 15th, there’s going to be an NHL Tweetup.
- As you may have figured out by now, the Municipal Census for 2009 is underway. Last year’s count was 752,412.
Ah, so that’s why The Bounce has been claiming to be the ‘biggest FM station in Edmonton’ recently…
