Here are my weekly Edmonton notes:
- At the Randall Stout presentation this afternoon, it was announced that the new Art Gallery of Alberta will officially open to the public on January 31, 2010.
- Panhandle Productions announced this week that the Big Valley Jamboree will be returning to Camrose on the August long weekend next year.
- Former TEC Edmonton CEO David Cox is back in Edmonton, heading up Radient Technologies Inc. in the Edmonton Research Park.
- Lucy the Elephant was big in the news this week, as Bob Barker came to town. Earlier, a third party specialist determined that moving Lucy would be detrimental. Don’t miss Paula’s article on the Lucy issue, and for the latest, check out my Twitter search site.
- The fall 2009 session of the City’s Planning Academy begins on September 23rd. More details here.
- Check out the Edmonton Public Library’s new social networking inspired online catalogue.
- The fourth Edmonton Giants mural was unveiled this week, titled Celebrating Volunteers. It’s located in Beverly, at the corner of 48 Street and 118 Avenue.
- You have until September 28th to nominate someone for the Salute to Excellence Awards, recognizing individuals and groups for their contributions to our city’s arts & culture, sports, and community service areas.
- The Edmonton Journal launched a new mobile site this week. They’re still working out the kinks, but I think it works pretty well!
- City Council approved the Transportation Master Plan this week, and are looking for feedback on The Way We Live.
- There are still three town hall meetings remaining with the Edmonton Police Service.
- The Edmonton International Film Festival starts on September 25th!
